Gordon Empey

Gordon is a Chief Operating Officer, General Counsel and Partner on the Frazier Life Sciences team. He has over 25 years of experience as counsel to venture capital investors and life sciences companies.

Gordon joined Frazier Life Sciences in 2017 and is the firm’s Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel, and a Partner. In his roles, he leads the Legal, Operations, Investor Relations, Compliance, Human Resources, Information Technology and Administrative teams and works closely with the Investment and Finance teams. He has over 25 years of experience as counsel to venture capital investors and life sciences companies. He previously served as the Vice President and General Counsel of Frazier-sponsored SPAC Frazier Lifesciences Acquisition Corporation which merged to become NewAmsterdam Pharma (NASDAQ: NAMS).

Prior to joining Frazier Life Sciences, Gordon was a partner with Cooley LLP, one of the premier biotechnology and technology law firms. In his legal practice at Cooley LLP, Gordon focused on emerging growth companies, corporate securities and mergers & acquisitions, and worked closely with Frazier Life Sciences on several investments and company creation efforts. Gordon also advised numerous other life sciences venture capital firms and companies on structuring investments and corporate matters. Before joining Cooley LLP, Gordon was Executive Vice President and General Counsel at Radiant Research, which was sold to Covance and Swiss Biosciences in 2007. Early in his career, Gordon served as an officer in the United States Navy, Judge Advocate General Corps.

Gordon holds a J.D. from the University of California at Berkeley, Boalt Hall, and graduated with High Honors in History, magna cum laude, from Colgate University.
